Paul David Udehn
Electrical Engineer (Colorado EIT) | Physics Ph.D. Candidate | Contract AutoCAD and Revit Design
Summary
Electrical engineer with more than eight years of power, lighting, and low-voltage design for Department of Energy, government, commercial, and industrial facilities, now a full-time physics Ph.D. candidate at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Licensed Engineer in Training in Colorado with the NCEES PE Power exam scheduled for winter break 2026-27 and every other licensure requirement complete. Available for contract electrical design and BIM production on a fully licensed AutoCAD and Revit seat, using cloud-shared Revit models so client teams can follow the work as it progresses.

Experience
Ph.D. Candidate, Physics
Full-time graduate study and research in physics in the combined M.S./Ph.D. program; graduate coursework includes nonlinear dynamics and chaos. Sitting for the NCEES PE Power exam over winter break and taking contract electrical and BIM design work in parallel.
Electrical Engineer IV
- Supported DoE mission-critical facilities, small modular reactor design, nuclear facility design, decommissioning facilities, and industrial and manufacturing clients.
- Produced and submitted full design packages in Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP, and AGI with company-standard calculation tools.
- Developed the organization's Revit standards from industry best practice, raising productivity and reducing errors in the nuclear services division and delivering a fully coordinated electrical model that drew positive client feedback.
- Left in July 2026 to pursue graduate study full time.
Founder and Electrical Engineer
Founded and ran a small engineering and product company focused on AI-assisted engineering workflows, software, consumer electronics concepts, and energy sustainability. Stepped away in 2026 to pursue doctoral research full time; the company's revenue work is paused while I study.
Electrical Engineer II
- Supported government projects and large, complex commercial and industrial designs, managing more than a dozen active projects at a time.
- Covered the full span of electrical disciplines: low- and medium-voltage power, lighting and controls, grounding and lightning protection, telecommunications, security and access control, and fire alarm and mass notification.
Design Engineer II
Telecommunications network design and production support.
Lighting Project Auditor
Lighting audits and field review for energy-efficiency retrofit projects.
